Six Weeks (Makin' Faces)

First time in the swing not screaming! Of course, it lasted for just a few minutes. I'm hoping he grows to love it.
Smiling at big sissy. They really dig each other.

Almost smiling for mommy!

Looking at sissy.

Maddie makes him happy.

My cutie patootie. Even if he does have cradle cap...in his eyebrows.

Cameo!

I had to get a photo of the two of them.

My little helper!

Everything is going alright. The nurse practitioner at his pediatrician's office had me switch his formula to one with rice starch in it because of some nasty reflux (google Sandifer's Syndrome). Now, he's constipated and I'm having to give him prune juice every day as well as the occasional suppository (oh, he's gonna LOVE reading this when he's older!). He screams most of the day unless he has a dirty diaper, so we'll most likely have to switch him back to the other formula and just deal with the reflux.
Other than that, all is well. He still sleeps through the night and takes one good nap in the day. He was 12lbs at his visit last week and his newborn clothes are too tight already. His next check up is on the 19th.
Maddie is doing ok with all the changes. She has lost interest in the potty and constantly wants her binky (she had pared down to only using it at nap time and at night). She has also started wanting to come sleep in our room ~ I assume because Calum's bassinet is in there. I have noticed a difference in her behavior now that I can pick her up and play with her a little more (now that we have an hour or two just to ourselves when brother sleeps). She's still got the crazy Terrible Two thing happening...we are all ready for that phase to end. ASAP.
All in all, we are adjusting well enough. It is a little hectic here, but we'll get on a good schedule before long. I know my posts and photos are lacking, but it will pick up as Calum gets a little bigger and is able to not be hanging out in the crook of my arm all day. :)

A Game of Hide(?) and Seek

Hmmmm...I wonder where Maddie is hiding?

Week Five

Play time with...me! She is SO happy that I can pick her up again. She says, "Mommy, you can pick meeee! Yeessss!" I've really missed being able to play with her.

Maddie & Calum

Just a few quick photos to share (I'm trying to stand here and type whilst holding a baby). Maddie and Calum had a play date in her room! Of course, they didn't actually play with each other, but both were content just the same. Maddie keeps talking about how they will be able to play at the park when he gets bigger, all the things they will do. She really loves him and I love watching her love him.

Four Weeks

First "tummy-time". He was lifting his head up, but wore himself out by the time I came back with the camera.
Sissy loving on brother.

Cozy after bath time!

While I was photographing brother and getting him dressed, before I had the chance to empty his tub, sissy was keeping herself busy:

Sorry I'm taking a while to post new photos, but these little rascals are keeping me WAAAY busy. They're hungry at the same time, they're cranky at the same time, they poo at the same time...it's a regular circus around here!

Twenty-Five Days

Poor daddy never gets his own photo, so I thought I'd share. You're welcome, sweetie :) Momo and grampa came over to watch the kids so Gramma Michigan could take daddy and I out to dinner. Tres Leches, here I come!
Gramma Michigan!

Momo

Grampa and Calum.

Sweet baby boy! He's so chubby already!

His new cozy chair that I had to get him since he hates his swing.

I can't believe that he's almost four weeks old already!

Just Madd

Maddie and I went on a quick mommy-Maddie date this afternoon to pick out some glasses. While I was giving my prescription to the sales girl, Maddie was busy trying out the merchandise. It was extra-nice to get out of the house, just she and I.

This Week In Rittmannland

Madelyn 'graduated' from the spring semester at The Little Gym! Big thank you to daddy for taking her. At least I got to see pictures!

Showing off some skills on the uneven bars.

Her instructor, Ms. J, and the director handing out her certificate.

Look at dem biceps!

Jingle bells signal the beginning of class.

Hopefully I will be able to start taking her to class again soon. I'm still on restrictions for a few weeks.
The kids, hanging out with mommy. Who is already donning Christmas PJ's in June.

Maddie has been begging to get Brother, so ~ now that her nose isn't running like crazy ~ I let her love on him a bit. She really digs him.

Two Weeks Old...

He must have been sucking his thumb a lot in utero, because he does it like a pro!
Tonight, looking mighty handsome in his giraffe & camo outfit.

Sweet baby in her sweet 'I (heart) Chocolate' shirt.

Our babies!

Cute little monkey PJ's on my cute little man.

Watching Fox News???

Little Hammy heading to meet cousin Isaac!

3am? 4am? Who's counting...

Precious little Calum.

Amazing how time flies. Today was Calum's two-week well check and he's already 9lbs 4oz, so he regained his birth weight and then some! He looks healthy and his little eye seems to be getting better (he had a clogged duct). He also had his tongue-tie corrected on Tuesday.

In two weeks, I have learned so much about both of my children. Maddie is so much more gentle than I could have ever imagined. She tells Calum, "Good night, Brother", and pets his head (she loves to pet him). She tickles his tiny feet and giggles when he looks at her. She helps him get his binky when he cries, rocks him while he's in his car seat, and likes to get her step stool to "help" when I change him. She wants to know what his 'Umbanana Cord' (umbilical cord) is for.

Calum is a such a good baby. He sleeps through the night, only getting up for an hour to eat around 3:30am. He does not like to stay swaddled and grunts and pushes his little arms out of the top of his blanket, then will fall right back to sleep. He has stork bites, just like Maddie's, on his eye lid, nostril, and at the nape of his neck (she has them in all the same spots). It's crazy how they look so much alike, yet so different at the same time. Anyhow, he's very calm and relaxed and really only cries when he's hungry or wet.
Speaking of hungry, it's time to go warm up a bottle!
