Learning To ' Big Girl' Sit...Sort Of

Beautiful Maddie-Bug

Doing great!

Uh-Oh ~
Going...

Going...

GONE!

She cracks me up

Her second bottom tooth popped through yesterday and, LET ME TELL YOU, she has been extra fussy! She doesn't want to nap, she's been waking up crying around 3am, and Tylenol & Oragel only help so much. How many baby-teeth do they get??? I can't remember, but growing two at a time is not cool. Poor, poor baby!

Trip To Kentucky

All ready to hit the road to Cumberland Falls.

Beautiful Kentucky landscape.

My husband, daughter, and my daddy looking over the falls. If you look close, Miss Madelyn is still playing with that loathsome singing puppy ~ even on vacation.

On our way to Cumberland Falls, we stopped at the original KFC. I have no clue who those folks are :)

My mama playing with her camera, my sweet Grump, Gramma, husband, and Maddie in the background.

I love this picture ~ Maddie with her Great Gramma O and Great Gramma J. That's three of my most favorite ladies in the world...wish my mom had been in that shot.

My mom and Gramma O...playing with Maddie and puppy.

My sweet Grandpa C held Maddie even though she spit up all over him 4 or 5 times! She loved sitting on his lap.

Back at home, Maddie tried some real food for the first time ~
butternut squash was a hit!

Busy Bees...

Just a quick post here, as today is an extremely busy day:
Madelyn's first little bottom tooth erupted last night and the one next to it is visible just beneath the gums!

Follow Up

Maddie's scan results were normal, the left kidney is working great and the right one is, of course, kaput. The urologist wants her to take a small, prophylactic dose of antibiotics every day until she's six-months old and we'll have another ultrasound, as well. We also stopped by Garden Ridge, one of THEE BEST throw-your-money-away-on-a-bunch-of-crap stores in the world! I've had a gift card from Christmas that's been burning a hole in my pocket for months. I could spend hours upon hours in there, imagining all of the pretty little trinkets finding a place in our home...Maddie enjoyed it, too ~ a mom can tell these things. So, for future reference: for Christmas, birthday, etc., a gift card to Garden Ridge is always a great choice! Hey, I had to throw that in there; there's roughly seven months till the Holidays and it's never too early to start preparing :)

Easy-Peasy

Maddie did awesome this morning ~ I am so proud of her. She whimpered a bit when the nurse did her I.V., but didn't cry. The lady said Maddie is so chunky that she couldn't see a vein in her wrist so she had to do it in her little foot, which is only slightly less chunky. They gave her some medicine and we had two hours to kill until it was our turn to get scanned. We hung out in the hospital cafeteria and I ate a $10 breakfast: cold eggs, cold biscuits & gravy, old fruit, and the necessary coffee. Madelyn got a kick out of everyone doting on her and giggled and smiled at anyone who happened to look at her. She seems to find African-American folks particularly amusing as we don't really get out much and she's only used to seeing me and daddy. The nuclear medicine office had a big aquarium and she was laughing at the giant gold-fishie that kept swimming up to where we were...she cracks me up! We go to see Dr. J tomorrow to get her results. We also fly out to Kentucky next week to see Great-Grammas and Grampas (and Great-Grumpies, too), so we're looking forward to that (minus the flying part)! Anyhow, I'll keep ya posted on everything.
XOXO

Back To the Doctor...

Playing while Mama gets her make-up on

Checking Mama out. Well, checking out the camera anyway

Ready to roll to the doctor!

Well, Maddie is back on antibiotics. I noticed her pee-pee (that's the medical term) is smelling a bit strong & she's fussy, so I tested her urine at home ~ which read positive for leukocytes. At Dr. H's office today, she tested positive again so she's back on her medicine. Tomorrow Maddie and I get to travel down to Texas Children's Hospital for another renal scan, this one involving an I.V. All I know is that we have to check in at 8:30am, the I.V. is started at 9, and the scan starts at 11...all this after sitting in Houston traffic for at least an hour, if not an hour and a half! Wednesday will be our follow up visit with Dr. J, her urologist, to go over the results. Poor little thing; and she can't even have any ice cream to make it all better. Anyhow, wish us lots of luck!

Sittin' Pretty

"Hey! Look at me!!"
She loves to sit up...especially to watch HGTV. Honestly, no joke.
