Almost Twelve Hours of Sleep!

She is usually pretty giddy when she first wakes up, smiling and talking...I tried to record it, but I guess she's a little camera shy!

17 Weeks 5 Days

Sleeping in her crib for the first time yesterday morning...

...and a repeat of this miraculous event this morning!!! Granted it's only for an hour at a time tops, but it's better than nothing. She still prefers to sleep in her car seat.

Her appointment went well yesterday and she's still pretty big for her age, the size of an average six-month old. She weighed 17 lbs and is 25 1/2 inches tall. She also rolled over for the first time yesterday, twice in a row!

Ahhh, What A Beautiful Thing...

Maddie LAUGHED! Not the little mini-chuckle that she's been practicing (which inevitably gives her the hiccups), but three separate honest-to-goodness laughs!!
Other news:
~ Her 4-month check up is tomorrow
~ She scooted a full 360-degree circle on her tummy
~ I think she might be cutting a tooth
And finally:
~ I have another piece of exciting news, but can't share it yet...and, NO, I am NOT pregnant :)

Seventeen Weeks

Trying to keep Maddie entertained while I sorted out the nursery proved to be lots of fun for both of us! It's incredible watching her grow and learn new skills, to just explore her world (usually with her mouth!). I can't imagine a better way to spend the day...

Week 16

Getting ready to go pick out some birthday presents for Grampa! Notice she's got her shopping-face on...or maybe her jeans are just a tad too tight.

Excited ~ no doubt because momma bought her some new socks!

"Houston, we have feet! ...And hands!" Taking off her decidedly too-small socks.

Not Too Keen On the Party Scene...

Poor Maddie was having a rough time at Incredible Pizza: she stared in horror at the game room, cried when someone looked at her, and went into hysterics in the bathroom when somebody turned on the hand dryer. She did laugh at some people who were at the soda fountain, but - all in all - she was ready to go home as soon as we got there. I was so busy fussing with her that I didn't even think to get my camera out to take pictures of the Birthday Boy. (I hope you had a great birthday, Mr. P!!! Thank you for inviting us!)

Hanging onto daddy so that I could grab a bite to eat...

The after-party at MoMo & Grampa's house, sporting her Dora the Explorer shades...
But what really knocked me out was her cheap sunglasses (lyrics courtesy of ZZ Top)

Not too sure what to make of her new little caterpillar...
Making a little conversation...

Doing the taste test...

Making it jingle...

Thanks, mommy!

FYI

I've read that people send computer viruses to people on this site, disguised within a comment in the comment section of the blog. Well, I've started getting these stupid things, so if you click on 'comments', do not click on the link left by these morons. Some computer nerds just have waaaaay too much time on their hands! Anyhow, just wanted to warn you.

Play time...Snack time

Play time...

Snack time!!

Play time...

Snack time!!

Maddie's lungs sound clear per Dr. J, but we should still use her nebulizer three times a day for a few days. He said that once she has had a wheeze, the odds are good that she'll get wheezy again and just to go ahead and do the treatment, then call her doctor. She definitely sounds better which makes me happy. We see Dr. H on April 28th for her four-month check up, then go back to Texas Children's for a renal scan on May 6th. We leave for Kentucky the following week and I'm nervous about the plane ride. I HATE FLYING! It's only a short flight and it's better than driving eighteen hours (plus stopping to feed Maddie every three hours), but I am still deathly afraid to fly. I did find out that my other grandparents from Michigan are going to come down for a day while we're there, so I am looking forward to that! Anyhow, that's all for today.

XOXO

Arrrggggghhh!

Well, the seller had already accepted an offer as of Friday. I don't like ill-wishing people, but I can't help but to hope the deal falls through. Our agent told the other agent not to put it back on the market, should something happen with the other folks, that he has a buyer lined up. Well, I'm not going to get my hopes up so I guess we'll just keep looking...
Anyhow, on to my favorite part of blogging...

Getting unhappy...

From zero to fussy in 3 minutes!

Wish Us Luck!!

Thirty-five hundred square feet, four huge bedrooms, three and a half baths, den, living room, family room, built-ins everywhere, gigantic game room, two staircases, big island kitchen, all wrapped up in a beautiful Victorian-style exterior. This is my dream home (and my sweet husband is kind enough to indulge me!). To top it off, it is minutes from family & friends (and First Colony mall...just kidding, my love!). It is a total wreck inside, but we are up for the challenge. It is next to a golf course, a walk away from the elementary school, a pond, and a big park. Our offer was sent in last night, so please, please, wish us the best!

Breathing Treatments

I don't know why I photographed Maddie on her nebulizer ~ it makes me crying-sad to look at her like this. Her cough was getting worse instead of better, so the doctor wanted to see her yesterday. So far as we know, she doesn't have bronchitis, bronchiolitis, or pneumonia, but her wheeze was enough that Dr. J (Dr. H was busy) wants her to do albuterol every 4 to 6 hours and see us again on Monday. My stupid butt spent a few moments on Google last night looking at possible side effects of albuterol and I don't want to give it to her, but I want her to get better. It just makes me want to cry (which, by the way, I am currently doing). She smiles at me through the little mask and it breaks my heart; all I can think is 'Please, God, don't let this stuff hurt her'. Ahhh, I need to think happy thoughts...

Nice things this past week:
1.) She is 'talking' a lot...a regular little chatterbox!
2.) She has realized that she can hold her hands together which makes her look like she's praying!
3.) She has slept through the night almost all week!
4.) She's a kicking machine! She'll even move so that she can kick me ~ much more fun than kicking at air.
5.) She loves to sit up ~ with my help, of course. She tries so hard to do it by herself, but she can't get it quite yet. Sometimes she pushes so hard to move her upper body that she farts, which always cracks me up. I don't care how old I am...farts are funny :)
My parents also got us all plane tickets to go to Barbourville, KY to visit my beautiful Grandparents. It's been a couple years and I can't wait to see them. I can't wait for Maddie to meet them!
XOXO
